The WRO is well aware that people are not happy with the current state of things, but unfortunately it's going to take them longer to get the power lines back up than they expected.

One of the members comes up with a WRO-funded vacation to Costa del Sol. Not only do they still have power, but they have a beach. Everybody loves the beach, and the ones who don't sure love AC. It'll be a gesture of goodwill and an apology for taking so long to make city life bearable again.

So everyone, hop on the free Air Taxi and come to Costa del Sol! Hotel rooms are free for periods of three days at a time, swimsuits are on sale, and they have AC. Really, do you need any other reason?

[[This is a catch-all for anyone who wants to hit up Costa del Sol! You're not obligated to take the WRO's trip, of course, and if you want to make your own log in del Sol you're more than welcome to do so.]

It might have mattered to Laguna more if he wasn't already outside. His hair was up in a high ponytail, arms bare and tank top sticking against his chest a little. He was walking the city, jacket tied around his waist. There was a lot still for him to check out, and it seemed he was one of the few people who wasn't suffering.

The summer was great, who wouldn't want the summer?

Maybe all these people who just lost their air conditioning. Laguna probably wasn't helping by looking genuinely pleased by the warm air.

This was honestly better than lingering inside though, weeping over the loss of cold blowing air.

The day was finally starting to wind down, though the smell of fair food and the distant sound of the rides that were still going could occasionally be heard in the cooling air as dusk started to settle over the city.  Tifa had taken down the snack stand and counted up the money for the day.  Leaving the bar closed was an option, they'd had a busy day already, but she thought with a fair in town, it might be nice to open up.  See if any other faces or friends drifted through.  Chances were it would be a fairly quiet night anyway.  A day at the fair would wear out a lot of people and send them home to their houses early.

So the sign outside the door got flipped to indicate the bar was open and the front lights of it got switched on.  Chairs unstacked from tables and glasses got set out.  Soon enough people started to trickle in and there was a quiet murmur of noise as regulars and new arrivals found spots to relax at the end of the day and nurse a drink or get a light meal.  In the process of filling up a glass, Tifa turned with an automatic smile for the newest arrival as the door opened and, before she even saw who it was, called out a cheerful:

"Welcome to Seventh Heaven."

((ooc: hey gang, I thought I'd throw up a 'wind down' kind of post.  Come on in and get something to drink or talk or (work) or whatever strikes your fancy.  Tifa's available if anyone wants interaction but I don't mind if anyone wants to run private threads here too.   ps. Adult-Cloud - you probably don't want to see what's waiting for you upstairs on your bed.))

Summer Solstice Fair

The sun is shining, the Mognet is working again, and the summer solstice fair is here! The WRO hopes to makes this an annual thing, but this is the first year they're doing it. Everything you could ever want from a fair is here and open to the public.

*Fair Rides: Ferris wheels, a mini rollercoaster, that thing that looks like an octopus and spins around--the WRO spared no expense to make sure everyone would have fun here today. There's even a gravity ride that takes you up to the top of a pole and then drops you!

*Food: So much food. So much unhealthy food. Funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, you name it. And it's all fairly cheap too, since the WRO promised to pay for half of what the merchants sell!

*Carnival Games: And most of them aren't even rigged! The Gold Saucer donated games for the fair and there are so many games. There's your standard shooting games, some basketball games, a dunk tank, hoop tosses, you name it. A few are rigged, though, so buy beware! There's also a few card tables set up in a tent for those who like their games a little less wild.

*Speed Dating: ...yeah, the WRO has no idea. This came with the Gold Saucer stuff, along with a Cait Sith and Moogle mascot pair that will coax anyone they can into sitting down and participating.

*Job Fair: With the influx of new arrivals, both native and Streamers, some employers see a golden opportunity to get some jobs filled! In one corner of the fair is another, mini-fair fill with tables and presentations on various workplaces: the WRO, ShinRa Tech, the volunteer emergency services of Edge, and the Highwind Air Taxi Service, just to name a few. Anyone of working age is welcome to wander in and have a look around.

Of course, the fair is taking up the entire center of Edge, so there's lots more to see and do!

All across the city, people were looking out of windows and stopping their cars to watch smoke billowing out of the building the Mognet servers were held in. Volunteer fire trucks were on the scene, and many servers would be saved, but it would be a while before anyone could post to their account to complain about the weather, or bitch about ShinRa, or spread gossip about the strange new people arriving in Edge from the WRO's HQ.

Really, it was probably a good thing the Mognet was down. The longer it took for rumors and nonsense to spread, the easier it would be to combat them where they did. Besides, somewhere on the news was someone praising whoever set the fire for 'freeing the world of the evils of social media', never mind that it was an electric fire and not arson.

Either way, the best way to get a hold of people right now is by calling or texting them. Phones still work, but email's a bust. Maybe if you really need to find someone, you can go and track them down, even.

[[THIS IS A SOFT OPEN. This is the only place where people may tag until next week's official opening, though inbox threads may also start now. Feel free to use one of the starters below or throw up your own thread!]]
