Summer Solstice
The sun is shining, the Mognet is working again, and the summer solstice fair is here! The WRO hopes to makes this an annual thing, but this is the first year they're doing it. Everything you could ever want from a fair is here and open to the public.
*Fair Rides: Ferris wheels, a mini rollercoaster, that thing that looks like an octopus and spins around--the WRO spared no expense to make sure everyone would have fun here today. There's even a gravity ride that takes you up to the top of a pole and then drops you!
*Food: So much food. So much unhealthy food. Funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, you name it. And it's all fairly cheap too, since the WRO promised to pay for half of what the merchants sell!
*Carnival Games: And most of them aren't even rigged! The Gold Saucer donated games for the fair and there are so many games. There's your standard shooting games, some basketball games, a dunk tank, hoop tosses, you name it. A few are rigged, though, so buy beware! There's also a few card tables set up in a tent for those who like their games a little less wild.
*Speed Dating: ...yeah, the WRO has no idea. This came with the Gold Saucer stuff, along with a Cait Sith and Moogle mascot pair that will coax anyone they can into sitting down and participating.
*Job Fair: With the influx of new arrivals, both native and Streamers, some employers see a golden opportunity to get some jobs filled! In one corner of the fair is another, mini-fair fill with tables and presentations on various workplaces: the WRO, ShinRa Tech, the volunteer emergency services of Edge, and the Highwind Air Taxi Service, just to name a few. Anyone of working age is welcome to wander in and have a look around.
Of course, the fair is taking up the entire center of Edge, so there's lots more to see and do!

Normally a pair of slacks and a dress shirt he didn't have the decency to tuck in.
"Yes, seriously! Why does everyone sound surprised..? I defeated the Sorceress Adel! Huge victory in the revolution, actually.. the final victory."
He looked quite proud of himself, popping his collar with a smug smirk. "Then I got appointed president! Actually pretty good at it too!"
Yeah, he probably wasn't proving anything, as he nervously adjusts his collar back down.
"Anyway, quick pro quota, right? What's Shinra Tech?"

Not that it really mattered to him. Rufus ruled the world, and he'd only been president of a company. Reno shook his head and waved his hand. "Never mind, it doesn't matter here."
He shuffled through some papers, glanced at Laguna again. "We're a technology company -- R&D on new tools, communication, computer systems, et cetera." Alternative energy, even if they weren't really supposed to be playing with that anymore.
"What was the technological level of your last world...?"

Laguna leaned, as if to check out what Reno was shuffling about as he tucks his hands into his pockets.
"Well... I was the president of Esthar, who had the best technology... We had the Ragnarok, which was an airship, that also could go to the moon. That was pretty cool." He tilts his head, thinking. "And Esthar was protected by a massive cloaking shield, so it couldn't be found easily. I mean, I didn't engineer any of it specifically but.."
He shrugs, laughing. "I knew how to use it, of course! I'm more of a writer than an engineer unfortunately but I get things. I knew how stuff fit together. And these phones, really cool."
Laguna whips his phone out which was already adorned with a keychain. A marble wrapped in silver wire, obviously a small materia. But Laguna was focused on flicking through the phone. "I enjoyed figuring this out, its really smart."

"Esthar achieved space travel?" he asked. That was definitely something Rufus would want to know. Even if this Laguna guy hadn't invented anything specifically, he could use it -- which meant he could at least describe some of it to engineers here.
That materia "charm" didn't escape Reno's notice, either. He wondered how Laguna got his hands on that -- it easily must have cost a pretty penny, even for its size.

"That it did! We actually had a lunar base, where it holds the sorceress for safe keeping. I visit, from time to time. The launchings are rather rough so.."
It was weird that the guy was interested in the space travel when he talked about city cloaking. Usually people were more interested in that to start with.
"We also had Balamb Garden. It floated. Big ole city, floating around the world."
He sounded terribly casual about it because it had been there for so long. Laguna turns his head to indicate the distant ruins of Midgar.
"Honestly, it looks like you had something similar going over there. What happened?"

Still, Lunar prisons, cloaking devices, floating cities... This guy was a major asset. He had to be secured now.
Reno leaned across the table with fingers steepled, a small smirk forming. "Mr. Loire, I think you are exactly the kinda person we need at Shinra Tech. I'm gonna push yer name t' the top of our list, get you a final interview, say... tomorrow?"
Reno wants brunette Reno
"Actually, I was kind of hoping you guys did the sky taxi thing, that looks amazing. Drive around, meet new and interesting people.. Sit down, non violent kind of thing, you know..."
Plus, one absolutely couldn't fraternize in the work place, and Laguna was returning that smirk, waggling his brows at Reno.
"But if you wanted to pencil me in for dinner...? I'd be forced to accept."

That was all this guy wanted? ... Actually, Reno wasn't sure why he was surprised, in hindsight. President or not, Laguna seemed like a loose, down-to-earth sort.
"Heh." Reno chuckled and rubbed his fingertips over his lips with a grin. "That is... also an interesting proposition."
What? Laguna might be a little weird, but he was still good-looking. Reno wasn't blind.
"How about dinner, an' at least discussing being a consultant?" he counter-offered smoothly. "And I'll look into the air taxis for you. Yeah?"

"You're really into this me working for you thing. I'm starting to wonder why." He taps his fingers against his chin before pointing at Reno.
"Promise you're not a secretly evil organization gunning for world domination? Because I can't really back that."

He knew he gave off hired thug vibes, but secretly evil organization gunning for world domination? Scarily on the nose. He shook his head.
"No -- despite what you might hear, we're not a secretly evil organization tryna' take over the world." Reno sat back and crossed his arms. Even during a nice festival like this, there were bound to be protesters and soap-box preachers. "I just know a good asset when I see one."
Realizing the potential pun a second later, he smirked. "And you've got a pretty nice asset."

"I haven't heard anything so--" He interrupted himself with a laugh, hand rubbing a bit at his thigh. "Well, then I guess we have a date."
He turns his phone to offer it to Reno. "Your number, please? We can set a time and a location."

"In case you have any questions. I mean, no sense getting stuck in administrative red tape if we're gonna go on a date, right?" He winked. Even if Laguna didn't end up working for Shinra (though Reno would try his damnedest), he was still considering this a personal win.

"Then I suppose We'll be in touch.... and.. also who does the Skytaxis, are they hiring here..?"
He really liked the idea, because his dream had always been to be a traveling journalist anyway. Why not while taking people to their destinations?

He grins and lets go, turning to go find the sky taxi. And walk without limping, dear Gods, why did he do that right before walking?
