Summer Solstice Fair

The sun is shining, the Mognet is working again, and the summer solstice fair is here! The WRO hopes to makes this an annual thing, but this is the first year they're doing it. Everything you could ever want from a fair is here and open to the public.

*Fair Rides: Ferris wheels, a mini rollercoaster, that thing that looks like an octopus and spins around--the WRO spared no expense to make sure everyone would have fun here today. There's even a gravity ride that takes you up to the top of a pole and then drops you!

*Food: So much food. So much unhealthy food. Funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, you name it. And it's all fairly cheap too, since the WRO promised to pay for half of what the merchants sell!

*Carnival Games: And most of them aren't even rigged! The Gold Saucer donated games for the fair and there are so many games. There's your standard shooting games, some basketball games, a dunk tank, hoop tosses, you name it. A few are rigged, though, so buy beware! There's also a few card tables set up in a tent for those who like their games a little less wild.

*Speed Dating: ...yeah, the WRO has no idea. This came with the Gold Saucer stuff, along with a Cait Sith and Moogle mascot pair that will coax anyone they can into sitting down and participating.

*Job Fair: With the influx of new arrivals, both native and Streamers, some employers see a golden opportunity to get some jobs filled! In one corner of the fair is another, mini-fair fill with tables and presentations on various workplaces: the WRO, ShinRa Tech, the volunteer emergency services of Edge, and the Highwind Air Taxi Service, just to name a few. Anyone of working age is welcome to wander in and have a look around.

Of course, the fair is taking up the entire center of Edge, so there's lots more to see and do!

Moogle?

Moogle.

There's a moogle, floating around. He's got a tiny little "sword" which is more like a knife sheathed at his side, and he's found a nice little bandanna. His pom was cleaned up and sparkly and here he was, playing games, having food and generally being pursued by little children.

"My pom is going to fall off from all of this roughhousing!" Cried Mogleo, in shock as he zoomed across the way.

There's about a 50% chance he'll run headlong into you, just fyi.

Lea stumbles as the tiny white thing slams into his chest, nearly knocking him back onto a display of foam weapon prizes for the balloon dart game.

"Whoa! Hey, who's flying mog is this?" He grabs the toy by its pom-pom, holding it up.

"Gaaaaah!" Exclaimed Mogleo. "Please don't pull my pom off! I'll be good, I promise!"

Have a flailing, kicking Mogleo. He's not going to use his sword on this boy though, that would be just rude!

"Huh? It talks?" Lea looked at the mog toy before shaking it up and down a few times. "I don't hear any batteries..."

"I am not powered by anything but kupo nuts!"

Shaken moogle. Not stirred.

Dizzy, he smacked Lea's hand with a paw. "Please to be unmanhandling me, kupo!"

With a soft noise, Lea let the toy go and shook his hand out before reaching to poke at the toy's stomach. "Kupo nuts? Man, this is an impressive toy..." He kind of wanted one now.

"Sir! I am not a toy kupo! I am a proud member of the moogle tribe!" And Mogleo put his tiny paws on his hips proudly.

Fanfare!

"I am Mogleo of the Pomguard! Loyal protectors of the Churning Mists, caretaker and stewards to the great Wyrm Hraesvelgr!"

He reached down and turned his phone on silent so it wouldn't go off again while he tried to figure out what was up with this toy, making a mental note to get a new text tone.

"A moogle? Like the toys?" He gestured to a stuffed moogle nearby.

"More like the toys are like me," boasted Mogleo with a fuzzy grin.

"And you're a hyur child, are you not?"

Lea was still doubtful, but sure, he'd play along.

"Human. And sixteen, so not a child. Where'd you come from?"

"The races of man have several more years to go before they become men, kupo," said Mogleo sagely.

"I told you! I come from the Churning Mists of Dravania!"

"Yeah, no, I can live on my own and get a job, I'm not a kid." Stupid toy--

Wait. Terra had come from a world where mogs were real. Maybe that was the case here. Lea studied the moogle. "D'you know a girl named Terra?"

"Terra, kupo? I don't think I've heard of that name before. I know a Ysayle though, does that help? And a really REALLY grumpy Dragoon named Estinien and a tiny named Alphinaud. Oh and the Warrior of Light, kupo!"

Yeeeep nope.

Lea blinked, stunned and a little overwhelmed by all those weird names.

"No idea what any of that means, but got it. You're a Streamer?"

"Is that what they're calling it, kupo?" asked Mogleo curiously.

[flamesbond]

"Yeah!" Lea grinned and gestured around. "There's people washing up on Mideel or maybe Icicle Inn, I've heard both, and they're not from this world." Or weird alternates, like Cloud. Poor Cloud. "They say it's the Lifestream's doing."

"Oh yeah, I remember a lot of Green." said Mogleo thoughtfully. "I guess that's something our two worlds have in common."

"You have a Lifestream too?" Then again, if the Lifestream here could pull people from other places, those places must have a Lifestream too...

"Kupo!" Exclaimed Mogleo happily. "When a person passes away, their aether is absorbed into the lifestream. And a new life is born."

"They say that's how the one here works, too. But you're not from here?"

[pebbleforyourthoughts]

"Nope! Isn't it weird that we have such similar things, kupo?" said Mogleo cheerfully.

"Yeah, a bit." Lea grinned and offered a hand. He had no idea how the moogle was going to shake it, but it was polite. "I'm Lea."

"Lea," pronounced Mogleo, shaking his hand with a tiny paw. "Such a weird name. Wouldn't Moglea work instead?"

...he was kind of cute.

"No? Why would I be named Moglea? I'm not a mog."

"Moglea is a perfectly serviceable name though!" Exclaimed Mogleo, wings flapping.
