Summer Solstice Fair

The sun is shining, the Mognet is working again, and the summer solstice fair is here! The WRO hopes to makes this an annual thing, but this is the first year they're doing it. Everything you could ever want from a fair is here and open to the public.

*Fair Rides: Ferris wheels, a mini rollercoaster, that thing that looks like an octopus and spins around--the WRO spared no expense to make sure everyone would have fun here today. There's even a gravity ride that takes you up to the top of a pole and then drops you!

*Food: So much food. So much unhealthy food. Funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, you name it. And it's all fairly cheap too, since the WRO promised to pay for half of what the merchants sell!

*Carnival Games: And most of them aren't even rigged! The Gold Saucer donated games for the fair and there are so many games. There's your standard shooting games, some basketball games, a dunk tank, hoop tosses, you name it. A few are rigged, though, so buy beware! There's also a few card tables set up in a tent for those who like their games a little less wild.

*Speed Dating: ...yeah, the WRO has no idea. This came with the Gold Saucer stuff, along with a Cait Sith and Moogle mascot pair that will coax anyone they can into sitting down and participating.

*Job Fair: With the influx of new arrivals, both native and Streamers, some employers see a golden opportunity to get some jobs filled! In one corner of the fair is another, mini-fair fill with tables and presentations on various workplaces: the WRO, ShinRa Tech, the volunteer emergency services of Edge, and the Highwind Air Taxi Service, just to name a few. Anyone of working age is welcome to wander in and have a look around.

Of course, the fair is taking up the entire center of Edge, so there's lots more to see and do!

"I know." Zack had always been there in some way, shape or form to help him. Even after everything, the other had tried to do what he could to aid Cloud and the others. Taking the idea of a guardian angel a bit far, aren't you, Zack?

The blonde rolls his eyes when Zack speaks again and a dry look is sent the other man's way.

"I'm not completely anti-social," he drawled though there wasn't as much sting to it as there might have been any other time. He's still floundering with his emotions and the battle is obvious in the way his expression keeps faltering and something that's borderline happiness and sadness keeps filtering into his eyes. "...It's just been a rough few years, that's all."

Nope. If he was a real guardian angel, then none of that would have happened to Cloud and the others to start with. Besides... He was a failed experiment too, remember. So that meant no wings. Can't be an angel without those!

"Not completely," Zack admitted. "But juuuust enough."

He was teasing, really. Anything to get Cloud to lighten up a bit. Zack understood how difficult this probably was for Cloud to take in - especially if the blonde had met the other Zack before him. His emotions were probably flip flopping around and Zack would prefer for them to settle onto happier ones rather than those filled with sadness and regrets.

"At least you're not a true hermit. Then I really would have to start calling you 'Old Man Cloud,' since you're on your way to thirty and all." Yes, he was poking fun at Cloud's age. "I guess not all of us can stay young and beautiful."

Cloud just gives the other a look that screams 'Asshole', but there's a softness there--a fondness that makes it clear he's not really upset. This sort of banter, these sorts of comments...he's missed them. Sure several of the others have a wit and charm all their own but they weren't Zack.

And then Zack has to go and bring up age.

The blonde's look melts into something completely dry now and he just stares at the other.

"I'm twenty-three." Twenty-three Zack. Don't you dare try and call him 'Old Man' because he will punch you right in the face.

Cloud, you most definitely didn't inherit anything of Zack's. Ever. That 'scary' look only proved that much. Of course he wouldn't be warded off by anything that Strife shot his way - looks included. Instead his grin seemed to fold tenfold at that withering glance.

"Twenty-three going on fifty-two maybe," he said. Maybe he did want Cloud to try to punch him in the face!

He's not going to punch him in the face.

But he's definitely going to punch the other in the shoulder, probably a little harder than necessary. You deserve it though, Zack. And hey! He's grinning a bit at least.

"We only just see each other again and you're already starting?"

Grinning was good. That was something that was sorely missed so Zack would take th punch. He rubbed at his shoulder, snickering.

"What? Did you want more hugs and heart felt tears?" he grinned. "I mean I could go to that instead if you really wanted."

"No. I'm just going to leave you alone," Cloud drawled as he turned to start walking away, lifting a hand to wave over his shoulder somewhat.

Huh? Leave him alone? Cloud wasn't serious. No, wait. He was serious. In fact, that plucky little guy was walking away right at that moment. Zack huffed, chasing after his friend.

"Hey! That's uncalled for!"
