Summer Solstice
The sun is shining, the Mognet is working again, and the summer solstice fair is here! The WRO hopes to makes this an annual thing, but this is the first year they're doing it. Everything you could ever want from a fair is here and open to the public.
*Fair Rides: Ferris wheels, a mini rollercoaster, that thing that looks like an octopus and spins around--the WRO spared no expense to make sure everyone would have fun here today. There's even a gravity ride that takes you up to the top of a pole and then drops you!
*Food: So much food. So much unhealthy food. Funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, you name it. And it's all fairly cheap too, since the WRO promised to pay for half of what the merchants sell!
*Carnival Games: And most of them aren't even rigged! The Gold Saucer donated games for the fair and there are so many games. There's your standard shooting games, some basketball games, a dunk tank, hoop tosses, you name it. A few are rigged, though, so buy beware! There's also a few card tables set up in a tent for those who like their games a little less wild.
*Speed Dating: ...yeah, the WRO has no idea. This came with the Gold Saucer stuff, along with a Cait Sith and Moogle mascot pair that will coax anyone they can into sitting down and participating.
*Job Fair: With the influx of new arrivals, both native and Streamers, some employers see a golden opportunity to get some jobs filled! In one corner of the fair is another, mini-fair fill with tables and presentations on various workplaces: the WRO, ShinRa Tech, the volunteer emergency services of Edge, and the Highwind Air Taxi Service, just to name a few. Anyone of working age is welcome to wander in and have a look around.
Of course, the fair is taking up the entire center of Edge, so there's lots more to see and do!
[[Feel free to make your own top levels! Welcome to Edge of Life!]]

[Seventh Heaven has a little booth set up with all the rest, though its not serving alcohol. If you want that you can swing by the bar once the fair winds down. Nope, this little booth is mostly serving different mixed juices with catchy names and flavored shaved ice. There's also a small setting of cookies and muffins if you need something with a little less grease to put in your stomach after that last stomach churning ride. Tifa will be manning it most of the time (but if you work for/live with her feel free to take over for a little while to let her head off to beat a few of those games and getting that embarrassingly large stuffed chocobo for Marlene. Or possibly Cloud.)]
Hey! You look like you could use something to cool off. We've got nice cold juice or some delicious ice cones.
carnival games:
[While Tifa is content to mostly watch, she's a sucker for the goldfish scoop game and she's more than a little dangerous with anything that requires things thrown at targets. She's more than willing to help someone and she just might have her eye on one of the stuffed chocobo that's ungodly large.]
So... does the green chocobo or the yellow one look cuter? I mean, in your opinion?
(ooc: wanted to get this up but fair warning (ha!) I'm going to be offline for most of the day. Will get to replies as soon as I get back!)

[What a hot day it was, and Sunset was sweltering. Why did so many people wear black? Once she got some fabric, she was making her usual outfit.
Tugging at the collar of her shirt, she placed gil on the table with a relieved sigh.]
Ice cream and a juice please.
no subject
Both sound good! [She took the gil and laid the change on the counter.] I've got several types of juice and a few flavors for the ice. What are you in the mood for? Something sweet or something tart or both?
no subject
[Sunset was relieved at least to find such a booth and she settled down at the booth.]
I'm Sunset, by the way. Sunset Shimmer.
no subject
[She offers a smile and a nod, reaching into the nearby ice chest to pull out a bottle of juice that she starts to pour into a paper cup.]
I'm Tifa. It's nice to meet you, Sunset. [Considering she knows someone called Cloud, Tifa can't judge name appropriateness.] And I hope its not rude but your hair matches your name beautifully.

It's natural, and where I come from, people are all sorts of colors. Until I came here, I didn't realize most humans were peach colored.
no subject
Of course. A streamer. But - even with that -
"People are different colors? Like... blue?"
no subject
She sipped her drink.
no subject
...blue people... purple and green dogs
She blinked and shook her head as if that would help clear it. Or settle things inside it. Reaching down she took out a sea salt and offered it.
"I've never heard of that before. Maybe Shiva but - that's amazing. It must be a very beautiful world."
no subject
"It's pretty normal where I come from, both places." Said Sunset with a smile. "It is awfully gorgeous when I think about it though."
no subject
"Both places?"
no subject
Maybe it was how Tifa presented herself, but Sunset felt she could talk to her about this. "I was a pony, a unicorn in that world. I journeyed through a magical mirror and became a human."

food!
[It's a mild jibe, and honestly, there's a smile on the Sin'dorei's face, even as she says it.]
Do those ice cones come with the juice, or is it some sort of overly sweet syrup you're serving with them? I don't mean to insult, just...everything seems terribly sweet to me, here. I suppose my taste buds just aren't used to things as they are.
[It's something of a sheepish smile that the blood elf offers, now, as she spreads her hands.] Either way, I think I've enough for that, at least.
food it is!
Well, fairs are for eating food that's terrible for you and winning prizes you'll never use. [She gestured to one of the stools.] The ice cones usually come with syrup but I can give you one without. Nice and cold, not too sweet. I'm Tifa.

[She had missed out on much of the Northrend campaign, but from what Liadrin had heard, it hadn't been much to miss. Ice was more than pleasant on a summer's day, but months upon months in the stuff, with little respite--save for the cradle of life that was Sholazar Basin--did not appeal to the paladin. She'd take heat over cold any day.]
Liadrin. A pleasure. Do you do this often? [Curious, there.] You must be a good listener. Or do you get tired of it? I am not certain I would, but...I admit I am more the doing type.
[She can't help but chuckle a little, at that.]
no subject
Nice to meet you too, Liadrin. And - a little. I own a bar so if I don't usually run an outdoor stand, I am used to serving up food and drinks. Seventh Heaven. If you ever feel like stopping by. [Her eyebrows lifted a little but she smiled at the other woman as she started measuring out the juice to give the ice just a hint of flavor.] I do like to listen. People have interesting stories to tell and you never know when they'll help or need help. I don't get tired of it. Not really.
[Handing over the ice, her lips hooked a little on one side and a bit of laughter touched her eyes.] I might do a little bit of doing too myself, though that's mostly in the past. How are you doing, settling in here?
no subject
I am...bored, I suppose. As I have said, I am more used to doing, and...I have little to do, here. Though I have endeavored to help a...gorilla start working out.
[The phrase is just so out there that Liadrin can't help but start to chuckle at the ridiculousness of it all.]
Perhaps you have seen him. Light knows he is certainly as unmistakable in his way as I am!
[She takes a sip from the ice, to moisten her mouth.] What do I owe you for this, by the way?
Carnival Games
"Green," he answered finally. "They're more versatile on terrain, they're faster -- and if ya give it to Cloud, he'll probably be slightly less offended."
no subject
"Reno"
She had - mixed feelings about the Turks. They, and the one in front of her in specific, were responsible for a lot of pain and death - and yet... they'd also helped her team save the planet - and even rescue Yuffie. Mostly though... mostly she didn't think she could hold a grudge against them unless she was willing to do the exact same to herself. They might have dropped the Plate - but she was one of the ones that had set up AVALANCHE's base under it and been responsible for their blown reactors... and the deaths those had caused. And... they'd help her and Cloud in the church - and then helped them save their children, all the children and at the end of the day - at the end of the day who they were and what they did now was more important than the past. She had to believe that. Because if she didn't - than there really wasn't any hope or forgiveness for her either. So she smiled and nodded at his suggestion, looking back up at the hideous dolls next to each other. Reno had some good points. She focused on the really important one.
"So... you think the yellow one would offend Cloud more then?"
no subject
He crossed his arms and looked up at the dolls -- alternating in color where they hung displayed, green yellow green yellow... Gods, they were weird-looking. All chubby and distorted to make them "cute" or something, hell if he knew. It was definitely not the design he would have picked.
food
I'll have an ice cone. What flavors do you have?
no subject
Tart apple, citrus mix, sweet berry and something blue.
[A quick smile for the last one and she offers:]
We can mix and match flavors too.
[Her smile goes a little less 'sales' and a little more real.]
How've you been, Rude?
no subject
Citrus and berry.
[Tifa's genuine smile and interest in how he's doing makes him smile again.]
Busy, but good. You?
[He'd elaborate, but it's official Turk business and all.]
no subject
His succinct answer makes her smile again. You don't have to be verbose to get things across and Rude's a scientist at brevity. Ying yang in his partnership with Reno that was sure.
Turk business and all. She doesn't ask for elaboration.]
Doing well. Just hired a few helpers for Seventh. Kids are doing great. [Something she holds him partially responsible for after last year's conflict with the clones. She hasn't forgotten that. She won't. Past differences aside, he'd helped save her children.] Cloud too. And so far the only streamers I've run into seem safe.
[Her head lifted as she swirled the two flavors into the ice. Met his eyes as much as anyone could through his sunglasses.] If they're not, let's not take so long doing things separately again this time, okay?
no subject
[And it really was. He feels a bit remiss on not having checked on how they were doing sooner. It honestly hasn't felt like it's been that long, but he's been so busy with ShinRa, Mognet and now this whole streamer business, it's a wonder he's even getting the time to enjoy the festival.]
Of course. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
[Rude gives her a soft smile. He hopes that none of the streamers cause major problems where they'll need the extra help taking care of it.]
