Summer Solstice Fair

The sun is shining, the Mognet is working again, and the summer solstice fair is here! The WRO hopes to makes this an annual thing, but this is the first year they're doing it. Everything you could ever want from a fair is here and open to the public.

*Fair Rides: Ferris wheels, a mini rollercoaster, that thing that looks like an octopus and spins around--the WRO spared no expense to make sure everyone would have fun here today. There's even a gravity ride that takes you up to the top of a pole and then drops you!

*Food: So much food. So much unhealthy food. Funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, you name it. And it's all fairly cheap too, since the WRO promised to pay for half of what the merchants sell!

*Carnival Games: And most of them aren't even rigged! The Gold Saucer donated games for the fair and there are so many games. There's your standard shooting games, some basketball games, a dunk tank, hoop tosses, you name it. A few are rigged, though, so buy beware! There's also a few card tables set up in a tent for those who like their games a little less wild.

*Speed Dating: ...yeah, the WRO has no idea. This came with the Gold Saucer stuff, along with a Cait Sith and Moogle mascot pair that will coax anyone they can into sitting down and participating.

*Job Fair: With the influx of new arrivals, both native and Streamers, some employers see a golden opportunity to get some jobs filled! In one corner of the fair is another, mini-fair fill with tables and presentations on various workplaces: the WRO, ShinRa Tech, the volunteer emergency services of Edge, and the Highwind Air Taxi Service, just to name a few. Anyone of working age is welcome to wander in and have a look around.

Of course, the fair is taking up the entire center of Edge, so there's lots more to see and do!

It was hard to miss someone as striking as Vincent. Tall, dark, and big shiny gauntlet. Reno smirked, watching him check out all the new faces.

"See anyone interesting?" he asked.

[Cloud isn't the only one feeling suddenly shy. The automatic answer comes with some shame and Riku almost immediately hides behind his bangs, cheeks getting a little hot. He does owe Zack more credit than that, and he's heard those lines a million times. That it's not his fault. Hell, he's told himself that numerous times.

But it's hard to accept that when he's dealt with the blame being directed at him by others, and himself. He sighs, his words weak.] ...I know.

Guy's like a roach. [There's always a part of him that wonders if he shouldn't talk so ill of his creator, but there's absolutely no love lost in his tone. Hojo created plenty of other monstrosities, including Sephiroth and himself. He got what he deserved.]

Yeah. We hit up a bunch of places, but there's probably more. Who knows if there's any other labs here too...

Every once in awhile, Reno wandered past the job fair tables, curious to see who would actually still be interested in working for "Shinra Tech." The company still had a lot of hate against it in the aftermath of, well, everything.

But there were a surprising amount of people who still visited the table, signing up for information and talking to the representatives. The "new" Shinra.

Of all the faces and forms filing through the area, Reno didn't expect to see a familiar one. Or one straight from his past. "Cloud?"

Tifa's quick turn startled Isa, but once he got past that he smiled a bit sheepishly. "Hi, Miss Tifa. Sorry for bumping into you like that."

He noticed that she too, had an overly large plushie. "Did you win that yourself?" Isa asked, motioning toward the stuffed chocobo with his free hand.

Well, that's no good. How do you expect to find a cute girlfriend if you don't put a little effort in your own appearance?

[ Clearly, this is the reason she's found him at the speed dating table. Conveniently skipping over the fact that she's been finding other socially awkward people pushed toward the tables, because then she couldn't tease them. Though this one is incredibly skittish, considering he still won't make eye contact. Combine that with that very first impression of "clone", and...

It could just be extreme shyness. But she's wondering. ]

...Okay. Weird question time. Do you know me?

Reno wasn't sure who Tifa thought she was asking. But he was there, so it might as well be him. He looked over her shoulder, contemplating the merits of both chocobo plushes.

"Green," he answered finally. "They're more versatile on terrain, they're faster -- and if ya give it to Cloud, he'll probably be slightly less offended."

Terra wasn't sure if she was more surprised there were phoenix downs here or that Aerith had been deceased a short time ago. But to get weirded out or upset? Absolutely not! Terra could think of at least one person she wished was still alive, and that was only just the first person who had come to mind.

She reaches across quickly, grabbing both of Aerith's hand with the biggest smile she'd ever had, at least Terra thought.

"That's so amazing!! You get another chance, you get to see everyone you love again and they get to see you!!"

She wondered if she had seen any yet. Terra was elated on Aerith's behalf, almost wanting to jump up and hug her but restrained herself

Though that was a bit due to shyness because she was now realizing that she'd grabbed this poor girl's hands out of no where.

G-girlfriend?

[Well, if you're looking to shock him into the conversation, Aerith, congrats. Riku's head immediately snaps up, his voice even cracks a bit and his face is immediately flushed.

Him and romance and girlfriends just don't belong in the same sentence.]

I wasn't-- I mean, I'm not... [A helpless groan as he rubs his forehead with a palm and hangs his head in shame. He feels like such a mess right now.] This wasn't my idea...

[It is indeed a weird question but given his situation, it's not too outlandish for Riku. His face still feels hot with embarrassment, but he does finally look her straight in the eye. A bit more calm now, but still nervous all the same.]

...If I say "yes", would that be okay?

[Because he can always try to fake it and say no.]

Seeing Zack out of the corner of his eye was like seeing an old ghost. It was something that used to happen before -- before Hojo, before Meteor, before Reunion. It used to be real, passing Zack in the halls, listening about "honor." Then it was a guilty mind projecting him everywhere.

And then it had stopped... until now.

Reno would have brushed it off as just his eyes playing tricks on him. Except then he remembered Mideel, and the Streamers, and the reports coming in. And he remembered that there had been sightings of Zack -- of two Zacks. So seeing Zack right now? There was a good chance it was real.

His gut felt chilled. "Zack?"

[If this is your idea of incognito, Rufus, you might need to up your game. At least for those that have seen you dressed like that a couple of days ago.

Riku might not be approaching him, but it's not hard to miss the blonde or his kits. In fact, there seems to be a couple of kids running up to him to coo loudly at the couerls. It's enough to grab Riku's attention from the sidelines (where he has some funnel cake no less) as he cranes his neck to see beyond the crowd with a quiet smile on his face.

He's got a rather indifferent opinion about the man, but damn. Those kits are adorable.]

--no, no, you shouldn't pet them. They're young, and they may hurt you on accident.

[Rufus does not quite know what to do about all these children, and his couerls are spooked]

Please, leave them alone.

Seeing the young man who looked very much like one of Sephiroth's various clones, Reno was instantly interested. He caught the booth keeper's eye and nodded. If the silver-haired boy so much as sneezed the wrong way, Reno would pounce.

He wasn't sure what surprised him more -- the fact that the boy hit every target perfectly, or the fact that the boy was surprised at himself. That was unusual. Sephiroth, and his clones, had all been proud, arrogant even. They would have flaunted this win.

"Who are you?" he asked from behind Riku.

Carnival Games

One booth caught Rude's eye early on as he perused the games. It was an arm wrestling booth. After beating the champion, he got stuck sitting there going up against everyone who wanted to try their hand at beating him. He's been there and hour now and still no one has won, even when he's gone easy on them. Surely there has to be someone stronger than him that will take his place? There's other things he'd like to do today.

Speed Dating

Apparently being a Turk, and somewhat menacing in appearance, was not enough to dissuade the mascots from pushing him into the tent. He would have punched them both if it wouldn't have caused a scene - which was the last thing ShinRa needed after the events this week.

So Rude decided that he'd do one speed date before taking back off. Hopefully it wouldn't last too long, but there was always the chance that he'd get someone chatty enough that his lack of enthusiastic response won't matter to them.

Reno Only

"Had enough yet?" he asked, watching Reno scarf down number... well, he'd lost count how many things he'd eaten while they walked around the festival. Rude had eaten his fill already, that was five booths ago and Reno was still stopping to get more food.

Rude's certain the answer will be no, but he asked it anyway to get a gauge for how many more food booths they were going to hit up before he was stuffed and called it quits.

[Huh, this must be karma or something. The great, powerful and fearless president of ShinRa, who can't even deal with kids.

Sorry, Rufus, but this little clone is rather amused by the scene. But he has a point. No one wants a clawed up kid.

Coming toward him, Riku's presence and appearance seems to make the crowd disperse as some of the older kids in the group nudge or direct the younger ones away with a stern frown on their faces. A common reaction to him that he's trying to ignore.

Once the kids are gone though, he kneels down a few feet away from the couerls. They are cute. Deadly, but cute. Hopefully they'll calm down some now.

As for their owner, there's a tiny hint of a shit-eating grin on his face and a rather dry tone.]

You handled that well.

[ Success!--And Aerith giggles, trying in vain to cover it with her hands as Riku stumbles through his protest. She tries not to laugh too long, at least. She's got that question to ask.

His answer-as-question gets a nod from her, a smile still present but milder, and she puts her hands on the table. Trying to be as open as possible. ] Of course. I just don't want to be making you uncomfortable.

[ This does not preclude making him blush. There's a very good distinction, at least for Aerith. ]

Lea looks over at the tall guy when they're both sat down.

"...they're not really trying pair people up well at all, are they?"

[The kits stay right by Rufus for now, tails and tentacles flicking.

Rufus rolls his eyes]

I don't like children.

"No," he agreed.

Rude stares at him from behind the sunglasses he's wearing. Not only is he a teenager, but he looks like he could be related to Reno. He doesn't bring this up. If they are related, he doesn't want to know. At least the kid is too old to be Reno's kid. One Reno was more than enough. He loves his partner, but he's a handful.

"Right." Lea looks around, distinctly uncomfortable. There's just something about this guy that freaks him out a little. "Any idea how long we need to sit here? I'm supposed to meet Isa somewhere for lunch."

Vincent doesn't even turn his head. He could see out of the corner of his eye who it was by the very bright shock of red hair. Which Vincent still doubted was all natural, but he also wasn't going to bring the opinion to the table.

Reno seemed the type to want to offer proving it. Vincent hardly wanted to incite that possibility.

"Outside of the one with pointed ears, no." His voice was the normal deadpan though there was possibly boredom there as well.

"I specifically said tolerable. Not good."

Lets be honest, Vincent was a very good Turk. It didn't mean he necessarily enjoyed all aspects of the job. Considering the job led him to being in this strange not-alive status, it was fair to say he left the job on less than pleasant terms.

"Good." It was certainly pleasant to have her here. She brought a happiness to the people around her. Not Vincent, necessarily, but he at least felt a level of calm.

It could be that he didn't view her as a threat or just possibly she was a good person and he was comfortable in her presence.

"Your mother is doing well, considering." Still grieving of course. Not that Vincent took the time to check in. Reeve was the one who handled that portion. When he wasn't working.

Never mind that Reeve worked more than slept most of the time. Just never mind that he mentioned it, Aerith.

"I'm fine."

Very expansive and detailed of an answer to provide to someone he hadn't spoken to in so long.

It was going to happen sooner or later. With Rufus here, it was assumed that the Turks would also be here. At least, that as how Zack saw it. In fact, he was a little surprised that it took this long for him to run into someone else aside from the chick from before. Gun to the back? Not very nice. Not necessary either.

Hopefully Reno wouldn't be too offended if the voice made him jump a little. When his eyes did land on the Turk, at least he offered a little wave.

"Yup! I'd say the one and only, but that'd be a lie."

"I have no idea. I just arrived." He hopes it won't be too long, but maybe if he actually talks to this kid those mascots won't stop him when he leaves.

"Is Isa your girlfriend?" Rude asks, raising an eyebrow. The name sounds feminine, like it might be short for Isabel, or something similar.

Lea cracks up at that, holding his stomach and bending over a bit. "Isa is a guy and my best friend! We moved here from Kalm...oh, I can't wait to tell him this."

Rude adjusts his sunglasses. Was he ever way off on that one.

"Do you tell everyone you meet where you moved here from?" Really, that was more information than he needed.
