Summer Solstice Fair

The sun is shining, the Mognet is working again, and the summer solstice fair is here! The WRO hopes to makes this an annual thing, but this is the first year they're doing it. Everything you could ever want from a fair is here and open to the public.

*Fair Rides: Ferris wheels, a mini rollercoaster, that thing that looks like an octopus and spins around--the WRO spared no expense to make sure everyone would have fun here today. There's even a gravity ride that takes you up to the top of a pole and then drops you!

*Food: So much food. So much unhealthy food. Funnel cakes, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, you name it. And it's all fairly cheap too, since the WRO promised to pay for half of what the merchants sell!

*Carnival Games: And most of them aren't even rigged! The Gold Saucer donated games for the fair and there are so many games. There's your standard shooting games, some basketball games, a dunk tank, hoop tosses, you name it. A few are rigged, though, so buy beware! There's also a few card tables set up in a tent for those who like their games a little less wild.

*Speed Dating: ...yeah, the WRO has no idea. This came with the Gold Saucer stuff, along with a Cait Sith and Moogle mascot pair that will coax anyone they can into sitting down and participating.

*Job Fair: With the influx of new arrivals, both native and Streamers, some employers see a golden opportunity to get some jobs filled! In one corner of the fair is another, mini-fair fill with tables and presentations on various workplaces: the WRO, ShinRa Tech, the volunteer emergency services of Edge, and the Highwind Air Taxi Service, just to name a few. Anyone of working age is welcome to wander in and have a look around.

Of course, the fair is taking up the entire center of Edge, so there's lots more to see and do!

Huh--oh, hey, Miss Tifa.

[He grins up at her.]

Sorry about that. Are you okay?

Oh thank goodness, it was a friend. Terra closes her hand around Aerith's and shakes it firmly. Her grip was strong and she felt more confident knowing that Aerith wasn't going to be shouting her down or making her uncomfortable. She seemed very nice.

Terra returns her hands to her lap to fidget with them as she looks around, pony tail brushing against her back gently.

"I'm learning. I've seen almost the whole world back home and then... Then some things happened and I had to relearn everything. And this isn't the first time I've changed worlds, though that was when I was a baby."

She smiles as she looks back at Aerith. "So you're from here..?"

Rufus? Not a popular guy? Say it ain't so.

"I'll think about it," came his honest answer. "You're trying to change things, right? But I want to be able to help other people. Not just play bodyguard."

Tifa was just turning around, arms full of a brand new - and hideous - huge stuffed chocobo when she caught a glimpse of the hair. She probably would have anyway because she was always watching for that hair on the edge of her vision but in a crowd like this it was almost impossible to miss. Her mouth opened to call his name -

and than snapped shut. And then she exhaled and smiled and called:

"Cloud - "

She wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.

[It was next to impossible to ignore grins like that and she couldn't help but smile back even as she shook her head.]

I'm fine, Lea. [A gentle nudge to set him back upright. She doesn't scold or ask though. Instead she just waves the little paper scoop in her hand at him and asks:] Having fun?

"We are, yes. And I understand, but I felt I had to ask." It couldn't hurt. "If you end up needing a job, my offer still stands."

"I know. Pretty much figured that you would," Zack shrugged. "And it wouldn't be so bad, being around people I know."

Yeah!

[He grins, looks at his popsicle stick, and tosses it in the trash. Dammit]

Kalm had fairs like this, but not this big. I think I lost Isa somewhere...

"I'm afraid it's mostly employees who worked for the company after your death," Rufus explained. "I think you might have known Tseng, Reno, and Rude before, maybe one or two of the lower ranking R-and-D crew."

"What sort? Engineering actually," said Winston as he dug into his bag and withdrew a fried banana.

"I've dedicated my life to helping people, so I build technology to better keep the peace back home. I've studied many fields from biology to robotics though my passion lays with the scientific method, and running experiments to better understand our world."

Hmm, something tart to offset the heat, for both. Maybe some sea salt ice cream if you have it?

[Sunset was relieved at least to find such a booth and she settled down at the booth.]

I'm Sunset, by the way. Sunset Shimmer.

Aerith wasn't wrong. Vincent had noticed someone lurking up behind him. It was hard not to, this wasn't a large area. The fact that it was a familiar face caused his heart to flutter slightly. It was an unusual feeling. He hadn't known Aerith that well, but she had been kind to him.

She'd been more than kind. He held a loyalty to her as he held to the others and unfortunately, her life had been cut too short. Vincent never enjoyed seeing young lives with so much potential ended so suddenly.

The fact that Cloud was his closest friend out of the group certainly brought a heavier feeling to the situation.

And lets be honest, of all the people to not be affected by the surprise, not dead situation would be Vincent. He'd already pulled that himself.

"From my experience, the fit was tolerable but the workplace was hostile."

He turns towards her to give her his full attention.

"Its good to see the Lifestream returned you. Of all the people that it owed the most I would say you would be the top name on that list."

[Looking for the other boy is automatic but Tifa doesn't see him in the near vicinity. She thinks he can take care of himself though, at least for a little while. She hasn't known them long but she suspects its rare to see one of the boys without the other nearby for long.]

Well, as long as he doesn't get roped into the speed dating I'm sure he'll be fine.

Vincent recognizes her voice, turning away from his observations to approach her. There was only a brief pause at the sight of the rather hideous looking stuffed chocobo but he manages to convince himself its safe to be seen with her.

"Tifa. You've won prizes."

He takes another look at the chocobo, studying it a moment before looking back at her pretty face.

"This is an unfortunate looking doll."

I do.

[She offers a smile and a nod, reaching into the nearby ice chest to pull out a bottle of juice that she starts to pour into a paper cup.]

I'm Tifa. It's nice to meet you, Sunset. [Considering she knows someone called Cloud, Tifa can't judge name appropriateness.] And I hope its not rude but your hair matches your name beautifully.

It's good to see him. Even if it does mean that things are probably in trouble. He does have a habit about that kind of thing.

She's still glad to see him.

Her eyes go wide at his assessment of her stuff chocobo though and she shifts slightly to her side, as if she can shield the hideous doll from his judgemental statement.

"It's perfect. I'm going to leave it on Cloud's bed for him to find."

Translation: she knows completely that its unfortunate looking and that's the entire point of getting it.

...Hi.

[ There's about five seconds where she's wondering if she needs to bolt from the table, because the first impression of "clone" is so strong. It's not that the clones themselves are bad, but the man behind them... However, that sense of unease passes after a few seconds, and then she's just embarrassed at herself, shaking her head. It was hardly as though Sephiroth should have a monopoly on silver hair. ]

Sorry, you just--reminded me of someone I knew. Hi! I'm Aerith.

A brow lifted and he crosses his arms. That just seemed like undue cruelty. It's googly eyes and strangely shaped face would probably haunt Cloud in his dreams. Vincent was certain he would be having flashbacks of this moment, meeting this unfortunate doll.

"So I see you are enjoying yourself here."

Another statement of the obvious, since she had fish and a chocobo. His eyes drifted to eye the people walking by, taking note of each face before returning it to Tifa.

"It has been some time. You are well?"

Ah, thank you Tifa. [Yay compliments! That alone helped Sunset lose a bit of nervousness for being outside and drawing attention with her hair and looks.]

It's natural, and where I come from, people are all sorts of colors. Until I came here, I didn't realize most humans were peach colored.

Just because he was an orphan didn't mean he had to be unhappy all the time! Things were a lot better now than they had been, that's for sure.

"It's your lucky day, miss!" Sora cheered as he took the second treat from her but he doesn't attempt to eat it right away. If he can, he's going to hang onto it until he can find Roxas. He could eat it, there's no question about that. But he wants to share with his brother!

Sora pauses mid bite when she asks his name, the little boy's smile becoming a little bit shy--a practiced move.

"I'm Sora," he murmured, scuffing his foot a bit. "It's very nice to meet you, Miss Terra!"

At least this...gorilla seemed to have a decent enough personality. That laugh seemed genuine enough.

And he was gentle with children. A big plus in Cloud's book.

The blonde just nods a bit at the moon comment, still trying to process that completely as he reaches out to take the offered hand.

"Cloud Strife. Likewise, sir," he said in a formal sort of manner, not wanting to be disrespectful..for once.

Because I want to know what your plan is if he does come through.

[Reeve may have been in charge of overseeing what was going on in Mideel but Rufus was still the president of ShinRa.]

"No sir, just Winston will do," said Winston with a smile as he let the kids climb over him.

"Do you live here, Cloud?" asked Winston curiously.

Zack's hands on his shoulders make the situation much more real and Cloud startles just the slightest bit at the realization. This was real. This was happening. This was--this was his Zack..wasn't it?

A breathy laugh escapes Cloud before he can stop it and he ducks his head while shaking it, eyes closed as he tries to collect himself. Tries to stop that burning he's feeling in his eyes from becoming actually tears. He wasn't about to lose control of his emotions twice in one week. It just wasn't allowed.

But god did anyone Zack like make it hard.

"...You're back...I didn't...they didn't tell me." His voice is still so very soft but Zack should be able to hear it well enough.

Especially since Cloud is moving forward without prompting to drag the other into a hug.

His lips quirk slightly.

"Winston then." Easy enough. "Yeah, this place is my home." Another pause before his grin is turning into a slight frown. "No one's giving you a hard time are they?"
